LAZ Parking and EverCharge, a subsidiary of indiGOtech (GO), have announced a joint venture to offer EV charging services for apartment and condominium residents. The partnership combines LAZ’s parking and real estate operations with EverCharge’s SmartPower management technology.
LAZ operates approximately 2.1 million parking spaces at 5,700 locations in 639 cities in the US and Canada. The company has established relationships with property owners and operators.
EverCharge’s SmartPower technology allows multiple chargers to share a building’s available electrical capacity, enabling up to five times as many charging ports to operate using the same power supply, compared to unmanaged charging. This can allow more residents to charge their vehicles without requiring major electrical upgrades.
EverCharge operates some 10,000 charging ports at over 1,000 multifamily residential sites.
The two companies plan to offer a multifamily charging service that provides charging solutions for residents without requiring property owners to manage the installation and operating process.
“LAZ has always been about more than parking,” said Alan Lazowski, Chairman and CEO of LAZ. “The future is charging right where people park. Our joint venture with GO expands our charging network to 25,000 ports in North America, and we’re just getting started. Our broader relationship with GO also gives us the opportunity to explore how the places we operate can evolve alongside electric and autonomous vehicles.”
“Multifamily dwelling charging represents one of the largest infrastructure opportunities in the transition to electric transportation,” said John Lin, CEO of EverCharge. “We’re a leader in deploying intelligent charging for this market, and we’re working with LAZ to bring our platform to more properties and drivers.”
