Vingroup subsidiary launches electric taxi service in Denmark

Charged readers know Vingroup as the parent company of automaker Vinfast. Another of the Vietnamese conglomerate’s units is Green SM, which offers an electric car booking service and electric car and motorbike rental. The company currently operates some 20,000 cars and 60,000 motorbikes in Vietnam, Laos, Indonesia, the Philippines, India and Kazakhstan.

Now the company has announced its most far-flung international expansion: an electric taxi service in Copenhagen. Green SM chose the Danish capital as its first European market because it is “one of the world’s leading cities in sustainable urban mobility.”

In Denmark, the company operates a fleet of VinFast VF 6 and VF 8 EVs. Unlike many ride-hailing platforms, which primarily connect passengers with independent drivers, Green SM directly owns and manages its fleet and oversees driver operations to ensure consistent service quality. Before hitting the streets, every driver completes comprehensive training in road safety, customer service and EV operation.

Customers can book rides through the Green SM app. Fares are displayed before each trip is confirmed, and electronic receipts are issued automatically at the end of every journey.
