Pilot, GM and EVgo now offer EV charging at over 300 US locations

Pilot Travel Centers are a familiar site to anyone who travels the highways of North America. The company has more than 900 locations in 43 states and 5 Canadian provinces, and serves an average of 1.2 million guests per day.

It would be churlish to call Pilot a mere “truck stop.” A Travel Center is a place to obtain all that is necessary for the Great American Road Trip—fuel for vehicles, fuel for humans and pets, fuel for road stories. In recent years the company, in collaboration with GM and EVgo, has added EV charging to its offerings, and the three partners’ network has grown to over 300 locations with 1,300 DC fast charging stalls in 40 states.

The companies are now more than halfway toward their goal of installing up to 2,000 fast-charging stalls across up to 500 locations nationwide.

The EV charging industry is maturing, and these days road-tripping EV drivers expect more from a charging site than a couple of plugs off in the corner of a sun-baked parking lot. Since launching its charging network in 2022, Pilot has been getting good customer reviews. The network currently boasts a Plugshare score of 9.41 out of 10.

Amenities EV travelers can find at Pilot locations include:

• Well-lit, fully staffed locations open 24/7 with free WiFi and clean restrooms
• On-site retail and restaurants
• Windshield washing supplies
• Overhead canopies (at some locations) to protect drivers from the weather
• Pull-through stalls (at some locations) for drivers towing trailers
