Geely’s 16-in-1 Intelligent E-Drive debuts on the Geely TT

Geely Auto Group has unveiled the Geely 16-in-1 Intelligent E-Drive, an 800 V electric drive system that combines core drive hardware and functions in a single unit weighing 75 kg. The system, which was developed in collaboration with InfiMotion, will make its debut on the Geely TT.

Integrating drive components into a single system simplifies the power transmission path and reduces energy losses during power delivery, according to Geely. Geely puts the system’s efficiency at 93.8% on the CLTC (China light-duty vehicle test cycle). An 800 V architecture lets the drive run at lower current for a given power level, which reduces resistive losses and heat in the powertrain. In an efficiency challenge around Qinghai Lake, a Geely TT running the drive recorded measured energy consumption of 8.20 kWh/100 km.

In a dual-motor all-wheel-drive configuration, the drive produces a combined 425 kW and enables acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds.

Geely developed a 54-channel directional cooling design that it says lowers peak motor temperature by up to 15° C. The shaft and gear structure use active lubrication to maintain thermal stability, and Geely says the drive is engineered to a 5-million-kilometer durability target, validated at the component, assembly and vehicle levels.
